Carpet Cleaning
ServiceMaster Barrington Lake Zurich & ServiceMaster Cary Crystal Lake Algonquin cleans residential and commercial carpeting with state-of-art equipment. Our certified crew chiefs are trained to do the best cleaning at the best possible price with our truck-mounted carpet-cleaning units. This includes pre-spraying of carpets, applying our cleaning agent with a pressurized spray tank. The pre-spray loosens the soil from the carpet fibers allowing it to be rinsed away as hot, jet streams of water are sprayed into the carpet and extracted in a vacuuming action. We offer soil-proofing protection as an added service to keep your carpet looking clean longer.
Pet odor control, sanitizing and deodorizing are added services that are available for households with dogs, cats, or other pet concerns.

Furniture Cleaning
ServiceMaster Barrington Lake Zurich & ServiceMaster Cary Crystal Lake Algonquin cleans your valued furniture with an extraction process that will not over wet your valued fabrics because the spray and extraction is being done simultaneously. We clean with hot water or solvents depending on what fabrics you have. (Wet vs. solvents is similar to choosing to either wash or dry clean your clothes.) Soil proofing is available and recommended for extending the life of your fine furnishings.

Carpets
No other item in your home absorbs more wear and tear on a daily basis than your carpet, and no other item can impact your home's appearance like your carpet can. Unfortunately, many consumers ignore the warning signs until it's too late. ServiceMaster recommends that homeowners follow a few steps to keep up the appearance of their carpets:
- Have your carpets cleaned professionally at least once per year.
- Vacuum carpets at least once per week.
- Use doormats.
- Protect the surface of your carpets with a protector such as Scotchgard.
- Rotate furniture: PrMoveemature wear takes place when traffic paths are unchanged.
- Blot up spills when they occur, never rub or scrub, you may set the stain further.
- Dry wet spots immediately to prevent watermarks. Blot with a dry, clean cloth or use a hair dryer.

Upholstery & Drapes
Your furniture upholstery and window drapery are major investments that you have made to improve the appearance of your home. Cleaning and maintaining these investments are sometimes difficult to do. The professionals at ServiceMaster can help you with these tips for keeping your upholstery and drapes looking their best.
- Vacuum furniture and drapes often. Dust and dirt can damage fabrics permanently and preventing this damage is the best way to protect your investment.
- Blot up spills immediately. Spills or spots left unattended may set as stains. Blot spills, never rub.
- Avoid placing your furniture in direct sunlight. Modern fabrics are usually very resistant to sunlight, however, under extreme exposure, even these can show signs of fading.
- Plump and rotate cushions often to ensure a longer life.

Fire & Water
A kitchen fire causes fire, smoke, and water damage to walls, surfaces, and cookware... a hurricane scatters broken glass and debris in a family room, while water soaks paneling and rugs... rising flood waters from a rain-swollen river turn carpets to a muddy, mucky mess.
These scenarios create situations far beyond a homeowner's ability to turn a chaotic mess back into day-to-day living. After all, it's not every day--thankfully--that homeowners have to deal with the aftermath of a frightening home disaster, natural or otherwise. Fortunately for you, ServiceMaster Disaster Restoration Services makes it our business. Here are a few Emergency tips, should the unthinkable happen to you.
Water Damage Emergency Tips
DOs
- Blot or mop excess water.
- Remove and prop up wet upholstered cushions for even drying.
- Place aluminum foil or wood blocks between furniture legs and carpeting.
- Wipe excess water from furniture.
- Open drawers and cabinet doors for complete drying.
- Remove valuable paintings and art objects to a safe place.
DON'Ts
- Use your household vacuum to remove water.
- Use TV's or other appliances while standing on wet carpet or floors.
- Leave books, magazines, or any colored items on wet carpets or floors.
- Turn on ceiling fixtures (if ceiling is wet). Leave wet fabrics in place.

Spills & Spotting
- Ball Point Ink: Use hair spray and be sure to rinse the entire area well with water when finished.
- Blood Stains: Flush with cold water. Avoid hot water as heat will set the blood stain.
- Candle Wax: Put a brown paper bag over the dried wax and run a hot iron over it. The bag will absorb the hot wax.
- Grass Stains: Apply rubbing alcohol liberally to stained areas.
- Grease and Oil Marks: Gently rub in talcum powder, cornmeal or cornstarch. Let it set then brush or sponge powder away.
- Gum: Freeze the gum with ice and use a dull knife to remove.
- Red Wine: Use club soda to flush the wine from the carpet fibers.
- Soft Drinks: Apply a solution of one quart water with one teaspoon mild detergent and one teaspoon of white vinegar.

Parent Company History
Marion E. Wade, who began his own moth proofing service at age 31, began "on-location" (in the home) carpet cleaning in 1937, using products he had developed. When temporarily blinded by a moth proofing accident in 1944, Mr. Wade began thinking about his life and decided to dedicate his business to God. For the rest of his life, Mr. Wade regarded the Bible as his management guide and later wrote a book titled "The Lord is My Counsel" explaining his devotion.
Mr. Kenneth N. Hansen joined Marion Wade in 1947. In 1952, the first ServiceMaster Residential/Commercial franchise was sold. The franchises began operating as "ServiceMaster-masters of service, serving the Master". Mr. Wade recruited Kenneth T. Wessner in 1954. Together Wade, Hansen, and Wessner developed the four Company objectives, which are still used by franchises today:
- To honor God in all we do
- To help people develop
- To pursue excellence
- To grow profitably
Our Franchise History
Wayne and Clara Lutz purchased the ServiceMaster Barrington Lake Zurich franchise in May of 1977. The franchise has a main area of concentration of Barrington, Lake Zurich, Killdeer, Long Grove and Wauconda, but includes all of Lake County Illinois, and the Barrington area of Cook County. In 1981 the business was expanded to include the ServiceMaster Cary Crystal Lake and Algonquin franchise, which included the entire area of McHenry County Illinois. The businesses provided residential and commercial cleaning services on a project basis, as well as disaster restoration services for the insurance industry. The business was run as a proprietorship until 1992 when it was incorporated as W.A. Lutz Inc. Kevin Kallas joined the business in June of 1999 as a crew chief’s helper. He excelled rapidly in his training and was made a crew chief in January of 2000 and General Manager in June of 2001. After nearly 30 years of running the business Wayne and Clara started to step back and handed the running of the day to day operations to Kevin Kallas. In February of 2007 the business was purchased by Kevin Kallas (JRK Services, Inc.) and is still being operated out of the Lake Barrington Area with the same standards and expertise that Wayne and Clara brought to the business.
April 2009 Wayne accepted a position back with the company he helped build to handle the Disaster Restoration Marketing.
